Andrea's Profile – Credit Card Specialist

I work in Credit Card Servicing and find it really enjoyable. The initial training gave me an insight into the job and from there onwards everyone within the unit has supported me in getting all the knowledge that I have today.

Servicing and sales are separate within our product area and everyone is assessed so that they are placed where they are happiest. Personally, I feel much more comfortable and able to deliver my best performance when I am servicing customers’ accounts, so I work in a servicing role with no sales targets.

The calls we get are so varied that the day goes by very quickly and the support we get from colleagues and management is tremendous. Home life and work life balance is maintained to cater for all from the young and single to the married with children and also the student who can only work part time.

The training process is stepped so there is never too much information to take in at any one time, even though there are quite regular changes. Once you have finished your training you then proceed to the Development Centre which involves taking live calls and here you have an experienced specialist along with a trainer to help you out whilst taking your first calls. Even after your training is finished you will still have a mentor in the form of a buddy in your new team, to help you with any challenging calls.

As with any large organisation there are always targets to achieve to meet business needs and these targets are set every quarter and conveyed to us by our Line Manager. The bonus scheme is calculated and banked for each individual on a quarterly basis and paid out annually.

Working in Belfast is comfortable and we have a large subsidised canteen for breakfast and lunch breaks. We have table tennis, pool and air hockey tables in the chill out areas on 2 floors for all to use during breaks to pass the time. If you like a quiet break we have comfortable rooms that you can go and sit on the leather sofas and relax the time away reading a book or watching the large screen television.
